CLASS POLICIES

BEGINNER:
  Needs to learn basic rotary cutting skills & vocabulary. Limited or no quilting experience.

INTERMEDIATE: Can do independent rotary cutting and strip piecing, understands basic
quilting vocabulary and has mastered the 1/4" seam allowance

Students need to have basic sewing machine experience. Class minimum is 4.  All classes must be signed up and paid for in advance. 


IN ORDER TO COMPLY WITH COPYRIGHT LAWS EVERY STUDENT IN A CLASS
MUST HAVE  THEIR OWN BOOK OR PATTERN.   NO PHOTOCOPIES PLEASE.

Cancellation Policy:

a. You will get a full refund if we cancel the class
b. If you cancel less than 8 days before the class you will not get a refund. The supply list you receive when you sign up for a class will have a cancellation date on it.
c. If you cancel
more than 8 days before the class, you will receive a store credit good for 6 months from date of issue
d. Transferring to a different class is the same as cancelling one class and signing up for another class.

The tucker trimmer is a great little ruler used for squaring up blocks that have seams in both diagonals.  You choose whether you want a table runner or a wallhanging and Chris will show you how to make one block in class.

This bag is just what the pattern claims.  It is a tote bag that holds an 18” x 24” mat and has pockets for all your rulers, even the 24” ruler.  It will tote your quilting supplies to class for you.

This class will cover all of the basics of machine quilting on your home machine.  Learn about batting, threads, pressing and pin basting.  Chris will give you lots of information on how to choose the best design for your quilt, how to mark it, and most of all you will get to practice, practice, practice.  There will be a small amount of time devoted to using your walking foot. 

LOG CABIN RULER

show you this quick and simple way to make blocks with

Chris has a fun quilt top made with just 2-1/2" strips.  40 strips will make a quilt top that is 49" X 64".  You can then add borders to make the quilt the perfect size for you.  60 strips will make a quilt that is 64" x 74".  This class is free if you purchased prepackaged strips from us.  If you would like to bring your own set of strips the cost of the class is $18.00.  Another fun thing to think about.  Bring all of your half-filled bobbins and use them up on this quilt.

With this technique you will quilt your quilt as you piece it.  Barb will then show you how to make sashings to finish your blocks.  Each side of your quilt can have it's own look - It is a two- for-one project.

Chris has designed this sampler to give you a taste of many quilting techniques.  Each block is a lesson of its own and you will do two blocks per week.  In order to take this class you need to be able to do independent rotary cutting and have an accurate ¼” seam allowance.  In addition to this class you will get a one-on-one class with Chris, prior to the first class, to choose your fabric, while she gives you a lesson in color, texture, and value.  Class minimum - 4   INTERMEDIATE

The 3-D crystals appear to float on the background.  This quilt is easier than it looks.   It is all strip pieced, no y-seams.     INTERMEDIATE

This crazy patch block is made using a “shuffle the deck” method.  It is such fun.  You won't be able to stop with just one quilt.  Once you understand the method, you can rework it for any size block you want. This quilt is made using 1/3 yard cuts or layer cakes (10” squares).  Buy a kit to make a quilt like ours, or make just a few blocks and you have a table runner.  This is a technique class addressing only the blocks.   INTERMEDIATE


 

TOPSY TWOSY

This quilt has the look of a fancy pinwheel without the headache of making triangles.  It is all done with strip piecing, but here's the cool thing about this pattern:  While making the twin size quilt, you will be able to make a second smaller quilt from the trimmings.  Or even better, you can make the first quilt a lap size, and get a table runner, AND the second quilt.  WHAT A DEAL!      

DOUBLE WEDDING RING

This is a great second class for those who are ready to move on from a beginning class.  It can be made any size you choose.  This pattern uses a product called Thangles, which makes perfect half square triangles every time, and therefore perfect stars.  INTERMEDIATE

This runner looks like stained glass, but is not the technique which uses fusible bias.  The prairie points are made using a strip technique, not individual points.  You'll know fall has arrived when you put this out on your table.  Be bold.  Make your pumpkins purple like our sample.
